On Sakhisizwe today, we were joined by John Ngxowa – from the Traditional Healers Organisation. This week is the African Traditional Medicine Week. According to the World Health Organisation, in some Asian and African countries, 80% of the population depends on traditional medicine for primary health care. It further states that as traditional medicine practices are adopted by new populations there are challenges like International diversity, Safety, Effectiveness and quality, Knowledge and sustainability, Patient safety and use. The Traditional Healers Organisation fights for member’s rights to practice the tradition of healing.
