We also spoke to Thembi Mgini – Social Worker from the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence or SANCA. We were talking about Substance Abuse. One of SANCA’s objectives is to develop and implement substance abuse prevention and awareness programmes based on experiential and life style principles to particularly vulnerable target groups in their areas of operation. The last interview was with Dee Majola, Nombulelo Mabutho, Thembisa Nkumpela and Nozizwe from Manyanani @ Empilisweni clinic. The clinic is based in Gugulethu and offers free services on HIV counselling and testing for Couples. They are also conducting a study on the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This study is trying to better understand how the HPV virus spreads between men and women and the factors that result in it spreading more easily.
